Daily skin care routines should be catered to your specific skin type and customized to fit your lifestyle. These are the basic fundamentals to a routine that covers all your needs for face & body.
K E E P I T S I M P L E
Why? It will be hard to come by a dermatologist who recommends a complicated skin care routine with multiple products. Arielle Kauvar, M.D. cautions against active ingredients counteracting with each other while the sheer length of your routine could be enough to irritate those with sensitive skin.
Tatcha The Rice Polish Foaming Enzyme Powder
Tatcha's all natural cleanser makes your pores so clean it feels as if you've used a toner.
OSEA Ocean Cleanser
Sea minerals and red algae are used to gently cleanse the skin.
Mario Badescu Witch Hazel & Rose Toner
This toner is surprisingly moisturizing, however, be mindful if you are sensitive to fragrances. Use generously on a cotton pad.
Dickinson's Enhanced Witch Hazel
You cannot go wrong with this $5 all natural cult favorite. Use a small amount on cotton pad.
Radha Beauty Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic. Use a small amount on cotton swab and apply to acne spot.
ACURE Brightening Day Cream
Packed with Cica -a shorter name for Centella Asiatica- a perennial found in the Asian wetlands, is a multi tasking agent providing antioxidants and acne prevention due to its antiseptic properties. Argan oil, with vitamin E and fatty acids, makes this day cream the perfect multi-tasking day moisturizer. For sensitive skin be mindful of plant fragrances.
Nutiva Organic Unrefined Virgin Coconut Oil
The fan favorite, coconut oil is a great all over skin oil for moisturizing. Naturally boosting collagen, coconut oil tightens and improves the strength of connectivity tissues.
Soaking your skin in hot water increases blood circulation, allowing your blood to deliver vital nutrients to surface level cells, increasing the appearance & health of your skin.
Also included in my weekly skin routine, soaking your feet and body should be done as often as you find time to fit into your schedule. The health benefits of increasing blood circulation are more than for your skin, as it also promotes lower blood pressure & sugar.
Follow your bath with a moisturizing almond or coconut oil.
SEAL THE DEAL
Facial Sheet Masks are often marketed to "drench" the skin in moisture and plump the skin, and they're not wrong. Sheet masks are made from paper, gel substances, and fabric, typically cotton, to keep the benefits of serums & moisturizers wet on the skin for up to 30 minutes to allow your skins moisture barrier to absorb. Masks are sold with varying ingredients depending on your skins need but unfortunately most people don't have (or want) to pay $5 a day to include sheet masks into their daily skin routine. Here are two alternatives.
